The Rural Municipality of Tecumseh No. 65 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. The RM of Tecumseh No. 65 is a RM located in the southeast portion of the province of Saskatchewan. The following Urban Municipalities are surrounded by the RM; Town of Stoughton as well as the Village of Heward and Village of Forget. The RM of Tecumseh No. 65 comprises of residential, agricultural, resource, and commercial land uses.
The RM of Tecumseh No. 65 has a land base of 798.92 square kilometers and approximately 561 kilometers (348.50 miles) of various classes of roads. Highways 33, 13 and 47 are the main transportation routes through the municipality. Additionally the Stewart Southern Railway stretches 132 kilometre (82 mile) between Regina and continues exactly South East along Highway 33 to Stoughton, SK. this is the longest section of straight track in North America, and the second longest in the world. The SSR has direct mainline access into Regina, SK for easy distribution of commodities to all markets in the East, West, and South. The line was originally owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway, which arrived in Stoughton in 1904. Today it is owned by Stewart Southern Railway, a shortline that bought it from the CPR in 2010.
